As many as 64 officials from the 16 districts of Maharashtra are currently participating in a five-day training programme on Swachh Bharat Mission Grameen (SBM-G) Phase II being held in Meetra Training Centre of Nashik district from 9th to 13th May 2022.
The training of trainers (ToT) on the Implementation of SBM-G Phase II is intended to orient all SBM-G officials on the various ODF Plus verticals. It has been organised by the Government of Maharashtra with the support of UNICEF, in keeping with the guidelines issued by the Department of Drinking Water and Sanitation (DDWS), Ministry of Jal Shakti, Government of India.
During the programme, State Project Director SBM-G), Mr. Randhir Somvanshi guided the trainees while Deputy Chief Executive Officer of Nashik Zilla Parishad Mrs. Varsha Padol-Bedse was present. Interacting with the trainees were UNICEF Advisor Jayant Deshpande, State Level Manpower Development Advisor Mr. Vijay Gawli, Assessment and Monitoring Advisor Mrs. Sujata Samant, and State Advisor Mr. Ashish Thorat.
Among the participants are sarpanches, sanitation specialists, capacity building consultants and engineers from the districts of Maharashtra.
The following aspects are being covered during the workshop:
Day one: Introduction to SBM-G Phase II, institutional arrangement and the role of key stakeholders; concept of ODF Sustainability, retrofitting of toilets; leaving no one behind; Faecal Sludge Management (FSM), technology options and implementation of FSM.
Day two: Climate resilience, IEC and interpersonal communication in SBM-G Phase II with focus on ODF Plus and hygiene promotion; community led planning process for preparation of village sanitation plan (VSP) and briefing for field visit planning process.
Day three: GOBAR-Dhan – waste to wealth, technology options; Biodegradable waste management – Implementation and technology options; Plastic waste management; liquid waste management with technology options and roll out.
Day four: Field demonstration – primary meeting, social mapping, waste quantification, sanitation walk, documentation, open discussion; group work on village sanitation plan (VSP) report preparation; steps of sanitation plan, uploading on e-gramswarajya.
Day five: Business models for sustainable service delivery; Facilitating training and Role of Trainers in facilitation and organization of training; effective training management; Preparation of Plan of action for implementation of district level training; and discussion.
