Haryana leads the country with 120 ODF Plus villages

Adding a feather to its cap, Haryana – the State that is home to the Zakir Hussain Rose Garden and the famous Rock Garden has declared 120 of its villages as ODF (Open Defecation Free) Plus.  This means that these 120 villages have sustained their ODF status, ensured effective management of solid and liquid waste and are visually clean.

Haryana is currently leading as the State with the largest number of ODF Plus villages across the country. 

According to Mr. M. L. Garg, SPC, Haryana, ODF Plus villages were declared so through a Gram Panchayat resolution, following the Gandagi Mukt Bharat campaign.

Additionally, State and District level committees have been set up to verify the ODF Plus villages and to ensure that they sustain their new status.

All these villages have fulfilled the parameters of:

  • 100 per cent usage of individual household latrines and one Community Sanitary Complex (CSC) per village
  • Proper management of solid and liquid waste, particularly plastic
  • No littering within the village premises

Here is a list of ODF Plus villages:

Kaithal District:  Dheraru, Kheri Matrwa, Gurunanak Nagar, Mehmudpur, Nandgarh, Sarakpur, Theh Bhutana, Sampankheri, Bhalang, Dumara, Kalasar, Kolekhan, Narwal Garh, Dussain, Jamba, Kheri Sikander, Majra Rohera, and Santokh Majra

Rohtak District:  Anwal, Patwapur, Sangha Hera, Timarpur, Lakhan Majra, Bedwa, Farmana Badshpur, Madina Korsan, Mokhra Khas, Nindana, Nindana, Assan, Bahu Jamalpur, Bhaiyanpur, Himayunpur, Jindran, Karountha, Singh Pura, Taja Majra, Bhainsru Kalan, Chullana
