Having constructed one community sanitary complex (CSC) in each of the 498 villages of the total 504 villages, Valsad district in Gujarat has been nominated for the Swachh Sundar Samudayik Shauchalaya (SSSS) competition.
The best block in Valsad nominated for the SSSS competition is Kaprada which has completed construction of a CSC in each of its 149 villages, covering all its SC/ST habitations.
As far as the best village is concerned, Gujarat has nominated Garkhadi village in Subir block of Dang district; owing to the brilliant paintings that adorn its CSCs.
At the State level, Gujarat has thus far completed construction of CSCs in 5,351 of its 18,261 villages.
SSSS is a part of the Swachh Bharat Mission Grameen (SBM-G) people’s campaign that supported the construction, painting, and maintenance of community toilets. Organised by the Department of Drinking Water and Sanitation, the purpose was to ensure that toilets are made available in public areas of rural India, particularly for the floating population and migrant labourers.
