Patiala constructs 12 community sanitary complexes

Patiala

As a part of its ODF sustainability activities, the district administration of Patiala in Punjab has constructed 12 community sanitary complexes, all of which have been completed and are in use by the communities they were intended to cater to.

A sanitary toilet complex is an infrastructure for the use of the community and/or floating population. A sanitary toilet complex takes care of safe disposal/reuse of human waste in addition to the objective of providing a toilet facility that enhances privacy and dignity.

Here is a list of toilets constructed with their locations:  All the complexes cater to the public and their usage is free.  District officials inform that all the facilities built using Swachh Bharat Mission Grameen funds are currently in use.

The provision of community sanitary complexes is the most suitable option for those who cannot afford individual toilets for monetary reasons or due to lack of space.  Such complexes are particularly useful at public places, temples, markets, taxi stands, etc., where a large congregation of people takes place.  Such facilities foster the cognitive development of healthy sanitation practices in the community.
