Swachh Bharat Mission Gramin (SBM-G) has indeed become a jan andolan or people’s movement in every sense. There have been instances of people from all walks of life, different professions, various sections and levels of society and age groups from all districts across the country, joining in, to contribute whatever they can to the world’s largest cleanliness drive.
The young volunteers of Muskaan Organisation in Sawaniya Panchayat of sub-divisional block of Ghatol in Banswara district have certainly contributed to freeing the Sawaniya Panchayat from the vices of open defecation. They were assisted in this task by the Rajasthan Skill and Livelihood Development Corporation of Banswara unit.
Having heard of SBM-G, the youth of Muskaan Organisation expressed their willingness to contribute to construction work. Under the umbrella of Rajasthan Skill and Livelihood Development Corporation, as many as 24 young lads were trained in construction of toilets. From designing to technical know-how, they were provided all the skills to implement the project.
Equipped with those new skills, the trainees constructed all the toilets that were required in that village, free of charge. They selected the right spots, constructed water tanks, made the pipe-fittings, etc.
Their cheerful work left a lasting impression on the minds of the village community which will be ever grateful to those young lads for their valuable contribution towards making their village clean and healthy.
