Class VI girl in Jharkhand uses pocket money to build toilets for poor people

Jamshedpur: A Class VI student of Hill Top School, Telco, spent her pocket money to build toilets for poor people in Potka block of East Singhbhum district. Inspired by the Prime Minister’s appeal to participate in making India a clean place to live in by 2019, the minor girl used her savings for constructing two toilets.

“I am glad that a schoolgirl spent all her pocket money for constructing toilets. She is an inspiration for all of us,” CM Raghubar Das said after felicitating her at a state-level sanitation conference here on Saturday.

“I began saving my pocket money since the end of 2014 and in over 12 months, I saved Rs 24,000 out of which a part was used in constructing a toilet in a village close to Hudco dam in Potka block,” said Mondrita Chatterjee, who has earned Sanitation Champion certificate from the state government in recognition of her contribution towards sanitation.
